Tokyo - Did that really just happen?
Kettlebells brought me to Freakin’ Tokyo. What?!?! That is Crazy. That is awesome.
First flight! the first 3 competitors in Japan’s first GS competition!
John on the 32s, ‘Nichiban’ on the 16, and Muk on the 20s.
Oh yeah, and i competed, too :-) This is the footage of my competition set - after 3 weeks of no training due to injury. John said to compete if i feel i can, and he was confident i could, so i did. And i set a PR :-)
The experience was so much more than the competition though. that was just the tip of it. I got to see John, Jason and Nazo in action, teaching their unique approach to kettlebell education. What’s crazy to me is how they manage to guide people through so much information without it being overwhelming, and while keeping it fun.

They cared so much about helping you “get it” that they’d do a quick 3-second celebration every time they helped someone break through a difficult movement pattern.
It was such an honor to have John and Jason ask me to demonstrate for them during the workshop. and then they asked me to help the participants out when they were practicing the new techniques. and then suddenly i really felt like a part of it. I had stuff to share, advice to give, and the participants i helped loved it!
I’ve taught kettlebells before, but not like this. Not on this scale. It means a lot to me that my coach let me do that. I must be doing something right :-)
I learned so much in Tokyo. Not just about lifting, but about life. the injury fucked with my head and my heart. i needed to sit and talk to those chu-hus (people) to get my shit re-aligned. I didn’t even know i needed that. But it worked. Honestly, i’m still trying to wrap my head around the whole experience. Thank you once again, OKC Chu-Hus.
Dolby on the clubs
For now, i am once again refreshed, and am waiting anxiously for the 19th of December - That’s day 1 of my next training cycle. The new year starts on Monday.
BOOM! CHU-HI!
